EGA Age Defiance

According to Merriam Webster, acne is "a disorder of the skin caused by inflammation of the skin glands and hair follicles; specifically, a form found chiefly in adolescents and marked by pimples especially on the face and pimple is a small inflamed elevation of the skin."

To me I will take it that acne is slightly more complicated and has to do more with hormonal changes during your adolescence or pregnancy while pimple is a less hormonal.

However, you do not get acne or pimple because you have bad skin. In fact, all skin types come with its good and bad. It is how you take care of them that make a lot of difference.

To note is that the problem with both is that they can be quite unsightly. The trouble is to take care of them and eventually ensure that the pimple or the acne is gone from your skin. Especially when they appear on your face, it can be quite demoralizing. Mostly acne problems are found in skin which are oily by nature although the other skin types are occasionally not spared either.

They can be found on your face especially if you have very oily skin and you skin care regimen is not established properly. You can read about skin routine for oily skin at Oily Skin Care Special (Coming soon).

Due to weather conditions, pollution and hormonal changes, your skin attracts a lot of impurities. Moreover, the dirt clogged up if you do not remove you make up properly. The dirt and oil clogs up your pores making it difficult for your skin to breath. This, in the end, causes pimples to form or the acne is worsened.

So, what exactly happens to your skin with all these impurities?

In a nutshell, acne develops in and around the hair follicles  and their oil producing glands. Bacteria in the deeper part of such, releases chemicals which interacts with the sebum produced by the oil glands. This makes the skin irritated, swollen and to become red.  This develops into a pimple. Some conditions may be worsened if a pus develops within and enlarges the pimple. When this dries, it may eventually lead to scarring as well, if not taken care of properly.
